iFlyHotair - Hotairballoon app 8.3

This app allows you to configure and perform load calculations of your hotairballoon. The environmental settings can be retrieved automatically from the internet. Then based on all settings the lift calculation is performed and the results are displayed. When lift limits are exceeded results are displayed in red. The app contains a database with balloon components of well known manufacturers to make fast, easy and accurate configuration possible. The app looks up information on the internet but no information will be pushed to it to keep your data private.

- meteo information
- temperature in celsius or fahrenheit
- weight in kg or pounds (lb)
- tank volume in liters, US-gallons or UK-gallons
- envelope volume in cubic meters or cubic feet
- altitude in meters or feet

Metar info can be retrieved automatically for an given airfield to:
- retrieve actual ground temperature
- determine actual field elevation *
- retrieve current QNH

All configuration data is kept locally on your iPhone or iPad.
Multiple balloon configurations can be stored.
Envelope volumes can be entered in cubic meters or in cubic feet. The app determines automatically if cubic meters or cubic feet are used based on the entered value. For values greater than 1000, cubic meters are assumed, cubic feet (in thousands) for values < 1000.

* for automatic field elevation a build in barometer is required
* for automatic info retrieval an internet connection is required

Version 2.0 new feature:
- The nearest airport can now automatically be located and used to retrieve the QNH and temperature.

Version 2,1 new features:
Reduced network access to improve speed
Refresh button on results screen
Calculate results when app enters foreground
Passenger delete on swipe right-to-left
Cylinder delete on swipe right-to-left
Green or red results indicate whether or not the balloon is overloaded
App version is now displayed on environment screen
Refresh buttons will force fresh data from internet

Version 3.0 new features
Configure units for altitude (m / ft), temperature (celsius / fahrenheit), weight (kg / lb) tank volume (laters / US gallons / imperial gallons) envelope volume (m3 /ft3).

Version 4.0 new features
Both Envelope takeoff and flight temperature are now available

Note: When all automatic options are selected the following steps are taken to retrieve meteorological and field information:
1. Search for the nearest airport that provides a metar report
2. Using the retrieved metar get the QNH and temperature.
3. When your phone contains a barometer field elevation is determined
4. The retrieved values are then used to perform the load calculation

In some cases you may not want all options selected. If you are for example preparing your flight at noon you may want to enter the ground temperature manually because it will differ when you are flying in the evening.

The loadcalculation calculation results can be send to any place, so they can be used for later reference, when your device has Email capabilities.
