Pulse Rate

Detect your pulse rate from your face in selfie mode or from arbitrary skin regions using the rear camera.

The camera detects light reflected by the skin. Skin absorbs more light when the tissue is full of blood (after each heartbeat), therefore less light is reflected towards the camera. Utilizing this phenomenon, we can measure the cardiac cycle and therefore the pulse rate.
