RouteScout is a GPS data collection tool that collects location data from a user’s movement. Members of the same household are grouped with a unique PIN identifier. Once a household member is selected, they may begin a new trip, which will passively record their locations until the trip is complete. There are also optional, project-specific survey questions that may be presented before and/or after each trip. The purpose of these questions is to gain better understanding about the details of the trip. For instance, one might be asked the purpose of the trip, the mode of transportation, or the number of passengers that came with. Combined, this data provides greater insight into the travel patterns of people in each study area.

Because it will continue to collect GPS coordinates while running in background mode, your battery life can decrease significantly. Be sure to either end your trip or close the app itself when your trip is complete.
