The content is structured into two locales: ESL and NS (Native Speaker). Upon entering the program, the learner is assigned to one of the locales depending on their native language. Within each locale, small learning units are sequenced that build on previously learned skills. Specific skills to decode words, vocabulary, fluency and comprehension are emphasized. The material in the two locales are designed very differently, but both stress the use of engaging material to reduce the high dropout rate that has plagued adult learning programs. The ESL locale (which focuses on the native Spanish language learner) offers substantial support in Spanish, including cognates. The learners are engaged with relevant story lines and each story unit contains highly engaging tracks that support learning and fluency of reading, along with learning relevant life skills.
