Anime (ア ニ メ?, [Anime] (see)) [a] is an animation from Japan drawn by hand as well as using computer technology. The word anime stands for "animation" in English, which refers to all types of animation. Outside Japan, the term is used specifically to mention all animations produced in Japan. However, it is possible that anime can be produced outside Japan. Some scholars argue that anime is a new form of orientalism.

Piracy also makes it hard for the animators to take full advantage of their hard work, although there is also a "gossip" saying that there are also anime producers themselves who are disseminating their work outside the official trading path (possibly free or hijacked) in order to more popularizing their work.
