Designing characters for animation can be a tricky business with many levels of creative and technical development. In this course, artist, designer, storyboard artist and animator Siobhan Twomey, takes you step-by-step through the character design process.

So where do you begin? How about with some basic principles of character design? Siobhan introduces you to basic drawing techniques and tools you can use to turn your initial ideas into workable sketches. From there she dives into the development phase where you learn how to research and “grow” your character ideas into a workable form.

Once the sketches are complete, Siobhan explores the approaches and techniques you can deploy to "flesh out" the details to give your character features, color and a life of its own.
