The outer part of the body as well as a strong frame that protects the cabin from impact. The chassis of this model is relatively more protect the passengers from impact impact during collision. The impact energy is absorbed by the body and is not transmitted to the cabin. Usually the monokok chassis is accompanied by a crumple zone (front and back) that will be folded like paper during a collision.
Actually this one-piece chassis is formed from several parts that are united. Cabin deck is the largest part that is united with other parts via stamping machine (big press machine). New then added welding points or hinges with other body panels such as doors, hood, until the trunk door.
Monokok construction was first used in the aircraft industry. But in its development this technique is also applied in the assembly of the car. Lancia Lambda first used a monokok chassis in 1923. Then the Citroën Traction Avant in 1934 was the first mass-monocle product with monokok.
In the present, 99% of mass product vehicles are already using the monocoach steel chassis, because the cost of production is cheap and can be combined with assembly using a robotic system.

- The cost is relatively cheap for production

Weakness:
- Weight is quite heavy
- Unfit for production of small quantities
