Laboratory Life 1.0

Laboratory Life is an artwork by Andreas Bunte realized for the 2017 edition of Skulptur Projekte Münster.

Laboratory Life consists of a series of short films that can be accessed via posters in specific locations throughout the city. Each poster features a QR code that links to a short film sequence of various scenes. Once a film is activated by scanning the respective QR code with this app it remains accessible through the app’s archive function. A simple map allows viewers to find the individual poster locations around the city.

The films are studies of everyday activities and processes isolated from their context and recreated in a laboratory-type setting. As a modest archive, Laboratory Life compiles samples of motion that reference not only the everyday origins of the movements but also reveal the particular conditions of their re-staging.

Skulptur Projekte Münster is an international art exhibition held every ten years since 1977 in Münster, Germany. It focuses primary on taking stock of art’s relationship to public space through a selection of newly commissioned artworks.
