Historical inflation rates are taken from various sources and allow us to trace the value of the dollar starting from 1774, of the pound starting in 1751 and of the Italian lira starting from 1861.

For example, a hamburger from McDonald's in 1956 dollars cost $0.15, which corresponds to $1.42 in current currency.
